A Guest Beer From Iowa

PseudoSue, Toppling Goliath Brewing Co.
This beer comes courtesy of my friend who takes regular trips to the midwest and has a not-so-mild love affair with Toppling Goliath Brewing Company. He has raved about it and I had the pleasure to find out for myself that this pale ale can hold its own against a number of the better pales I've grown accustomed to such as Alpine's Hoppy Birthday or Societe The Publican.

Sadly we had to drink out of plastic, as it was a backyard wedding rehearsal dinner, but this beer still stood out. An all-citra hopped pale, but at least to my nose this night it didn't come off as a super tropical/mango-bomb as I've experienced with all-citra beers before.  Granted, I had consumed a handful of other beers, plus some Maker's-based cocktails, and maybe a Goldshlagger shot or two, but it came off with a really fresh green character.  I don't know... wish I could have concentrated a bit more on it but my focus was dwindling.

On second look, one of the characteristics that Toppling Goliath describes in this beer is "evergreen," and that's maybe what I was getting the most of.
